snip snip

I finally got a haircut over spring break! It’s just one of those things I tend to neglect, until I’m practically sitting on my own hair! Whoops! Anyway, I went to Soon Beauty Lab in Cobble Hill. I usually never get excited about getting a haircut, but I think I finally found my new “go-to” place. My ponytail is mini and it’s a little less curly, but it’s definitely much healthier!
Like the braid? (bottom left) It’s called the “Waterfall” braid! I’ve seen a few good tutorials online for this one- and it’s pretty easy when you get the hang of it.
Luckily for me, my mom still likes to do my hair.

my life lately…and a happy birthday!

When I think about how much I’ve neglected this space this year, I start feeling guilty! I have to remind myself why I decided to keep a blog in the first place (for myself) and think about all the other things that I have been up to! I didn’t realize how much going back to graduate school would consume my life! Luckily, I’ve still been able to be crafty! I have lots of projects that I have neglected to share- but hopefully I will make some time to celebrate the art!!

Well, that’s my big update! I’m off to celebrate the birth of my best friend!!

Happy birthday Keiki!

not quite ready for the new year

It’s hard to believe that 2011 is coming to an end. I have high hopes for 2012-even numbers are always better! I have plans for this year, this blog and my life in general! I have some projects that need to be shared around here and some new projects to make! I’m excited for the new year!

Wishing everyone a happy and healthy New Year!!

porcelaine markers and mo

Ever since I was introduced to the Elephant and Piggie series I have been obsessed with Mo Willems (known for writing for Sesame Street and Knuffle Bunny). My students adore these books and I love them too! I recently had the privilege of listening to him speak at Teachers College and my obsession with him has only increased. I bought these Porcelaine 150 markers and wanted to test them out. I strongly suggest that if you do buy these markers (and use them), make sure to follow the directions! [i.e., make sure that you let the markers dry for a full 24 hours before baking] I learned this the hard way. I may have to use them to make some holiday gifts!
