dressing up for St. Patty’s Day!

First, Happy Belated birthday to my MOM!!! sorry you did not get your own fancy post, but my mind has been elsewhere!! I will make a special post just for you!!

And second, Happy Belated St. Patty’s Day! Sláinte!

So, here’s the dress up part of this post…I originally started to make this project for KPA. He wasn’t home for me to take proper measurements so I was just eyeballing it as I carried on. I wanted to make a bow-tie after I read this post, over at MADE. So, I started to make it- not really paying close attention to how long it was going to be. I was just concerned with the bow-tie part. Once the pattern was cut, this was a really simple thing to sew up! I was done in no time. Then after watching several YouTube videos, I came across this one. (If you ever want to learn to tie a bow-tie, this is the one to watch.) After a few tries, I finally got it, and I realized it was never going to fit KPA. Luckily, it was the perfect size for another mister in my life, Jams. He really didn’t mind it on his neck. He wore it around for about 15 minutes. Snapping a picture was the tough part. But don’t worry, he was rewarded for his cooperation! Thanks Jams!

so lucky.

When I went to visit my brother last month, my sister-in-law gave me an exciting project to make some banners for the holidays to hang in her kitchen! I love banners and having things to make for other people makes me happy! So this is what I came up with for St. Patrick’s Day.

It’s in the mail MB! Hope you like it! Love you!

a birthday’s a birthday…

no matter how small! Hello! Happy Read Across America Day! In case you don’t already know, Read Across America Day is a fun day at school where we get to celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday. I love spending the day reading Seuss books; especially The Lorax. And, it’s the only day of the year that I can wear a “Thing One/Thing Two” shirt! I just had to take a picture using my chalkboard speech bubble (soon to be available for sale)! Anyway, in honor of today, I decided to make some cake pops for my class (of 26 students).
My friend Diana, owner of  Cake Popperie, does some amazing work with cake! Her cake pops are all hand decorated and are simply adorable! You almost feel guilty eating them! Well, she inspired me to make some of my own!!
I didn’t really know what I was getting into when I decided to take on this project. They are a lot of work! Even though they didn’t come out perfectly, like Cake Popperie’s, my second graders didn’t seem to notice. I’m not sure if there will be a next time, but I certainly had fun learning how to make them! Here are some of Diana’s creations that she made for Christmas…I especially love the reindeer with the pretzel antlers!

LOVE.

Hope everyone had a great day!!…Just wanted to share a little round-up of things I made this Valentine’s Day season.

Some holiday crafts….

a little cute LOVE bug…inspired by this. I felt it needed a little something extra, so I added a moustache.

A little heart-shaped purse. I tried to follow this tutorial, but I ended up changing how I made it a bit. Once I get a little better at zippers, I plan on making a tutorial!a little hair clip for a co-workers daughter. (I need a niece already. hint, hint)

And just for fun…here’s some LOVE from around our neighborhood! On our block.

Love in the kitchen. (his and hers)

I found this free owl calendar download. Owls for every month=LOVE!
