the magic of embossing

embosssuppliesfishgifttags polkadotsstampsinaction embossonveneerfoxyowl fishtagsMaybe it’s silly to use the word magic when talking about embossing, but the first time I saw the colorful powder heat up, I couldn’t help but “oooh” and “aahh”. Well, who am I kidding? I’ve had my new heat gun for a little over a week and I still smile when it works it’s magic. It’s been fun testing out some of my new stamps from the Paper Source. Don’t the fox and owl make such a cute pair?  I made some polka dots with a pencil eraser, some gift tags for Karl’s store (Urban Angler) and then some! I’m looking forward to incorporating the magic into my Project Life album (update coming soon). The possibilities are endless!

This was a busy week! On Monday I handed in my final thesis for grad school! It was such a great feeling to hand over that 70+ page paper. I was am very excited about the research I did in my classroom and I hope I can continue the work someday. It’s crazy to think about going back to school again, but it might be something I consider in the near future. But I’m not going to lie, it was such a good feeling to come home from school and have a little extra free time (I still have two classes). It makes me look forward to all the time I will have after I graduate in a month. I. Can’t. Wait.

Last week I picked up my wedding dress from Lovely! I was really happy with my entire wedding dress shopping experience. I knew that I didn’t want to go to a “big-box” store or one that has tv cameras all over. I understand some people want that, but it’s just not for me. My friend Carrie had a great experience when she got her dress at Lovely, so it came with high recommendations. The ladies of Lovely made the whole process stress-free and painless, which is just what I wanted (and needed).

And now the dress is finally home! I really wanted to just spend the rest of the day wearing it, but I knew that wouldn’t end well. So for now, it’s tucked away inside the garment bag until I have to take it for alterations! I can’t wait to wear it in 4 months!

wedding invites in progress

liners

paperpunchesThis is just a little sneak peak of our wedding invites. We’re going to be DIYing as much as we can for our wedding weekend, including designing and printing the invites.  When we started to plan last August, I was really only interested in the many craft projects I could tackle (and thrifting for decorations, too).  It’s been nice to take time away from my schedule to focus on creating the invites and crafting. I even broke out my Crop-a-Dile to use! So even if my eyes start blurring from looking at fonts for hours upon hours in Photoshop, it is all worth it! I feel motivated to craft more and share what I make in this space– which is always a good thing. I will be happy when they are finished and in the mail!

The only negative thing about a DIY wedding is…

diywedding the ever-growing piles.

(Like how Jams made an appearance in this post? He’s such a ham.)
